Paul and Gaby will travel to Guatemala and to the Hogar at the beginning of August; they have agreed to take an extra suitcase for donations to the Hogar from our humble mission.  We are collecting items this week and next for them to take.  Gently used clothes are accepted.

We will focus on collecting items for teenage girls.
- jeans
- slacks
- sweat pants
- skirts that cover the knees
- short-sleeve shirts
- long-sleeve shirts

Also, any item that would seem teenage-appropriate is also welcomed, e.g. deodorant, hair ties, lotion, soap, socks, etc.

Collection weekends are this weekend (July 28-29) and the following weekend (Aug 4-5).

The Hogar Rafael Ayau is an Orthodox Orphanage in Guatelmala run by the nuns of the Monasterio de la Santísima Trinidad.  Both have been supported for many years by parishes in the US, by the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) and by the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF).

Our own Fr. George, Pres. Georgette, Fr. Michael, Mat. Vickie, Paul and Gaby have all traveled to the Hogar and been blessed by this worthy institution.  Gaby’s godmother is Mother Ivonne, who is both "provost" of the orphanage and main "house mom" to the children.

On February 2, 2013, the Hogar Rafael Ayau will dedicate a new orphanage currently being built within the grounds of the Monasterio de la Santísima Trinidad on the shores of Lake Amatitlan far from the dangers and pollution of Zone 1.  Construction of the new orphanage is well underway, but funds are still needed.
